Do you take insurance?
I’m not accepting new clients through insurance panels. Full Circle is a fee-for-service practice and payment is due at the time of session. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I provide a monthly superbill with everything your insurer needs to process reimbursement.
Why not?
Two reasons, and I’d rather be straightforward about both.
The first is clinical. In-network practice means treatment decisions are shaped by what a utilization reviewer will authorize, and it means a diagnosis and a record of your care are submitted to a third party as a condition of being seen at all.
The second is practical. Insurance reimbursement requires a caseload size that makes the kind of work I want to do impossible. A smaller practice at a sustainable fee is the trade I’ve made, and it’s why the people I work with get real attention.
How often would we meet, and for how long?
Most people start weekly. Some move to biweekly once things stabilize. Length depends on what you’re working on: focused work on a specific problem might take three or four months, while longer-standing patterns take longer. I’ll give you my honest assessment after a few sessions rather than a number at intake.
Do you prescribe medication?
No — psychologists in DC, Maryland, and Virginia don’t prescribe. If medication seems worth considering, I’ll say so and can coordinate with your physician or refer you to a psychiatrist.
How confidential is this?
What you say here stays here, with the narrow exceptions the law requires: imminent danger to yourself or someone else, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, and court order. Because this is a fee-for-service practice, there’s also no insurance company receiving a diagnosis or a record of your treatment.
What if I need to be seen urgently?
This is a solo outpatient practice and I don’t provide emergency or crisis coverage. If you’re in immediate danger or in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.
